The Outsider, Edinburgh

This was our third visit at The Outsider. Every time we have been there the place has been absolutely packed but the staff seems to manage and handle it effortlessly, so there has never been a long wait for anything.
The five of us we're tucked into a wee table in the corner and handed the menu's that are simple yet a good variety of different options: skewers for every taste, five fish dishes and other options that include rib eye steak, pan fried chicken breast and roast lamb cutlets.
Three of us went for the Thai marinated chicken, king prawns, peppers and red onion skewers with a soya, lemongrass and coriander dressing. A good size portion of really tasty food.
Plum and almond tart with vanilla ice cream to finish off another tasty meal. And oops, I was stuffed once again.

Falko Konditormeister, Edinburgh

Falko Konditormeister is a German bakery located in Bruntsfield, Edinburgh and another shop in Gullane, East Lothian. Their Bruntsfield cafe is a place where we have planned to go for a while as we pass by it most Sundays but never actually managed, until now.
On a Sunday afternoon the place was buzzing: tables outside were all full but we managed to get seats inside where we witnessed a constant flow of people popping in and out to get few slices of cake or a loaf of bread to go.
My choice was a chicken sandwich with pine nuts, parmesan and rocket and Mr Lovable's was a colourful tower of goat's cheese and roasted peppers. To our surprise they were more like salads that were accompanied with baskets of bread that was... oh the bread in there is to die for.
It was quite simply lovely for our weekly sunday sandwich and we will definitely return, hopefully soon, and make sure that we leave some room for their irresistible looking cakes and pastries.
Really friendly, confident male staff that seemed to know exactly what they are selling and trendy decor was just an icing on a cake, so this is a place I would recommend anytime.

cakes, oh the cakes and their german names, impossible to pronounce
