Chop Chop, Edinburgh

"Make sure to keep an adventurous mind when eating here" said the head waiter at Chop Chop when we sat down for dinner on a Sunday night. I raised an eyebrow like I imagine proper food bloggers would do and looked at Mr Lovable, wondering what on earth that meant...
Chop Chop has been on Morrison Street in Edinburgh since 1996 and a while ago they also opened another restaurant in Leith. The place doesn't look like much from the outside and when stepping in it almost feels like a school canteen, with very bright, plain decor and buzzing atmosphere.
We ordered two chicken dishes, 'Crispy Northern Chicken' and 'Chicken with Peanuts', some rice and both fried & boiled dumplings. It didn't take long for our chicken dishes to arrive and they were both nice, crispy chicken being the winner of the two.
Then our dumplings started to appear... at Chop Chop food is brought to the table as it's cooked, so you just tuck in and don't wait around. It is ideal to share everything. We were shown how to mix our own dipping sauce and after my first bite I understood why they are famous for these little parcels.
And then we ordered more dumplings... and some more. They were fabulously seriously good.
There are times when I wish to be able to just keep on eating, without ever becoming full, and having dumplings at Chop Chop was like that.
